On 25 November, the French Prime Minister declared that Fighting violence against women will be the 2010 National Great Cause. The Prime Minister announced further measures to prevent or to punish violence. This announcement was the result of one year of lobbying carried on by 22 women associations –included the French Zonta clubs. Read more in Area Activities
SCHOLARSHIPS CEREMONIES
On 26 November in Toulouse, the Governor K.Saeger will award the Amelia Earhart 2009, four grantees from Area 01. On 27 November in Turin the PREMIO ZONTA AREA 03 will be awarded to a young woman researcher in Mathematics Science. More informations in Area Activities

PLOIESTI. NEW ZONTA CLUB IN ROMANIA
Zonta International has a new Club in Romania. Saturday 20th June, Karin Saeger gave the Charter to ZC Ploiesti in presence of Lt Governor, Maria Stefanova, Fiorina Maggi, Centurion Area 05, Susanne Trojani AD Area 04, Enrica Roffi from ZC Lugano (SOM Club), Denise Arsene and Elena Laslu, president and past president ZC Bucharest, many Zontians from Bucharest and Area 05, local authorities and media.
Otilia Radu, manager, is the President charter.
ZC Ploiesti started its mission in March 2006. Since that Rose Day the Club was involved in carrying out several projects aimed at promoting women's status and improving living conditions for women and children in Ploiesti and Prahova County.
From December 2007 until now, ZC Ploiesti organized activities to promote the status of women, to improve the situation of disadvantaged groups through donations of books, clothing, medicines, sweets, toys, electronics, appliances and supplies, awards for students at the art and handicrafts Olympics.
After the ceremony, ZC Ploiesti organized a lunch in a farm and in the evening offered to the hosts a beautiful show with singers and dancers from Children Palace, introduced by Doina Chitescu, a famous actress.

PREMIO ZONTA goes to the helicopter pilot ZHUPERINA
Elena Zhuperina, economist from Moscow and silver medal in the helicopter parallel slalom competition at the World Air Games in Turin, is the winner of the PREMIO ZONTA in honour of Amelia Earhart, which is awarded to the youngest woman winner of a speciality by District 30 of Zonta International. A woman who fully embodies the example of Amelia Earhart: when handing over the award, the Governor of District 30, Karin Saeger emphasized the special connection between the late pilot and Zonta, an organisation which for 90 years has been promoting the advancement of the status of women, the study of technical disciplines and those professions who are considered erroneously typically “male”.
For the celebrations of the winner and the tribute to Amelia Earhart, the most famous Zonta member in the history of the Club and of Aeronautics, two past international directors were present, Simone Ovart (who also presented the next appointment at Turin, the International Convention, which will take place in July 2012) and Regine Acquier, as well as three Area Directors for Northwest Italy-Principality of Monaco, Alessandrina Bettelheim, Southern France, Simone Gerbaulet, and Switzerland, Susanne Trojani, the District Chairmen Gisela Marquardt-Eissler, Laura Dagnino and Nadia Biancato, who presented the Award. Also the officers for the Amelia Earhart scholarships in Italy and France, Anna Maria Rambaudi – promoter of the Zonta Award at WAG 2009 – and Katherine Piquet Gothier accompanied by Benedetta Franzelli, winner of the scholarship AE 2009; further: the Foundation Ambassador Marina Saracco, the four past AD Liliana Longhetto, Luciana Mottino, Mirella Pessano and Gabriella Peluffo. And also many presidents and members coming from every part of the Piedmont, Liguria and the Aosta Valley and the Principality of Monaco: the women in yellow invaded the Aeroclub of Turin, demonstrating how all of them in the name of Amelia Earhart continue to dream bigger, to fly higher and to scale new heights every day !

LE PRIX ZONTA remis à Elena ZHUPERINA, pilote d’hélicoptère
Elena Zhuperina, économiste, originaire de Moscou et Médaille d’argent lors de la compétition en hélicoptère (slalom parallèle) aux Jeux Aériens Mondiaux de Turin, est la gagnante du Prix ZONTA en l’honneur d’Amelia Earhart. Ce Prix a été remis par le District 30 du Zonta International à la femme la plus jeune, championne dans sa spécialité. Une femme qui incarne pleinement l’exemple d’Amelia Earhart : en lui remettant sa récompense, le Gouverneur du District 30, Karin Saeger, a insisté sur le lien particulier entre l’ancienne pilote et le Zonta, organisation qui depuis 90 années, ne cesse de promouvoir l’avancée du statut des femmes, l’étude de disciplines techniques et autres professions considérées à tort comme typiquement « masculines ».
Pour ces festivités en l’honneur de la gagnante et l’hommage à Amelia Earhart, le membre le plus célèbre dans l’histoire du Zonta et de l’Aéronautique, deux past Directrices internationales étaient présentes, Simone Ovart (qui annonça également le prochain rendez-vous à Turin, la Convention Internationale, en juillet 2012) et Régine Acquier, de même que les trois Area Directeurs de l’Italie du Nord/Principauté de Monaco, Alessandrina Bettelheim, de la France Sud, Simone Gerbaulet, et de la Suisse, Susanne Trojani, les Présidentes des Comités du District Gisela Marquardt-Eissler, Laura Dagnino et Nadia Biancato, qui présenta le Prix.
Etaient présentes également les responsables des Bourses A.Earhart pour l’Italie et la France, Anna Maria Rambaudi – instigatrice du Prix Zonta aux Jeux Aériens Mondiaux de Turin – et Katherine Piquet-Gauthier, accompagnée de Benedetta Franzelli, lauréate de la bourse AE 2009 ; étaient présentes également : l’Ambassadrice de la Fondation, Marina Saracco, les quatre past AD Liliana Longhetto, Luciana Mottino, Mirella Pessano et Gabriella Peluffo.
Et aussi de nombreuses présidentes et des membres venus des quatre coins du Piémont, de la Ligurie, de la Vallée d’Aoste et de la Principauté de Monaco : ces femmes en jaune ont envahi l’Aéroclub de Turin, démontrant, au nom d’Amelia Earhart, la façon dont elles continuent à rêver « plus grand », à voler « plus haut » et à franchir de nouveaux sommets chaque jour !

Elena Zhuperina, economista di Mosca, medaglia d’argento nella specialità slalom elicotteri in parallelo ai Giochi Mondiali dell’Aria di Torino, è la vincitrice del Premio Zonta in onore di Amelia Earhart, assegnato alla più giovane vincitrice di specialità dal Distretto 30 di Zonta International.Una donna che incarna pienamente l’esempio di Amelia Earhart: nel consegnarle il premio, la Governor del Distretto 30, Karin Saeger ha sottolineato come ci sia un legame speciale tra lei e lo Zonta che da 90 anni promuove nel mondo il miglioramento dello status della donna, lo studio di discipline tecniche e di quelle professioni erroneamente ritenute “maschili”.

DIANNE CURTIS IS NOW VISITING AREA 03
Zonta International President Elect, Dianne Curtis, is in Turin for a week. She is working with Simone Ovart, Chair Zonta International Convention 2012, and her staff to the organization of Turin 2012. Monday evening there was an official dinner with Zontians of Zonta Clubs Torino 2, Turin, Moncalieri, Alessandria and Saluzzo. In the next days she will visit other part of the Area 03 with Victoria Oren, Treasure Turin 2012. The first Italian Convention machine goes on.
